Year 10

Wodonga Senior Secondary College offers a 3-year VCE model to all students enrolling in Year 10. This program is designed to ensure the greatest flexibility to individualise student pathways, to increase engagement, opportunities and successful outcomes.

Students enrolling in Year 10 will study a range of standard and elective subjects which keeps their pathway options open. The standard Year 10 student will study 6 subjects which includes: English, Maths, Industry & Enterprise and 3 VCE Electives.

A standard Year 10 program will look like the below:

  • Year 10 English
  • Year 10 Maths
  • VCE Unit 1 & 2 Industry and Enterprise
  • 3 x VCE Unit 1 & 2 elective choices
  • Student Agency

Within the Year 10 English and Year 10 Maths programs, we creator for diverse learning needs through these 3 pathways:

  • Individual Education Plan
  • General Year 10 Program
  • Applied Learning Program (Restricted entry)

NESPA Program

NESPA is a program that provides the opportunity for students to participate in an Arts based program. All students who enrol in a Visual or Performing Arts subject are immediately in the NESPA program.

Year 10 Electives

It is recommended that one of the VCE Unit 1&2 elective choices is from the VCE Science related subjects. These include:

  • Agriculture & Horticulture
  • Computer Studies
  • Environmental Science (This is the recommended science elective for students wishing to complete chemistry, biology and/or physics in the future)
  • Geography
  • Health & Human Development
  • Physical Education
  • Psychology
  • Systems Engineering
  • VCE VET Health Assistance

A small number of VCE subjects are not recommended for study in Year 10 without an individual education plan (IEP) in place. These include:

  • Chemistry
  • Biology
  • Physics
  • VCE English: English, English Language, Literature, Vocational Major Literacy
  • VCE Mathematics: General, Methods, Specialist, Vocational Major Numeracy
  • Vocational Major Work-Related Skills
  • Vocational Major Personal Development Skills
