Course Summary

VCE Vietnamese First Language (Units 1–4) is designed for students with substantial prior immersion in Vietnamese, developing advanced communication across interpersonal, interpretive and presentational contexts. Students explore three prescribed themes — Self and Others; Tradition and Change in Vietnamese-speaking Communities; The World Around Us — building fluency, cultural insight and analytical skill.

VCE: Unit 1, Unit 2 and Unit 3 & 4 sequence available

Learning Activities & Assessment

  • Structured spoken and written exchanges (letters, role-plays, debates)
  • Interpretation of spoken, written and viewed texts (articles, film, media)
  • Imaginative and persuasive writing tasks (journals, short stories, reviews)
  • Unit 4 extended study of literature, folklore or youth issues, including author intent and audience analysis
  • Oral presentations and teacher-led interviews to build exam readiness
