Automotive (Year 10)
Course Summary
This subject is a project-based unit recommended for students intending to undertake VET Automotive with a focus on the automotive industry. Students will develop knowledge and practical skills in workplace health and safety (WHS), the correct and safe use of hand tools and selected power tools and understanding of vehicle principles and parts identification.
The major assessment task is the design A vehicle of the future. They will look at what the purpose and application is for their design.
Learning Activities & Assessment
Students will complete a range of practical and theory-based tasks, including:
- Pull apart and reassemble small engine
- Investigation, design, production, and evaluation of a customised Vehicle of the future
- Completion of a written and computer-based portfolio assignment documenting the design and construction process
Assessment will focus on safe workshop practices, accuracy of engine reassembly, design development, problem-solving, and project evaluation.
