Course Summary

Do you enjoy designing practical projects? Solving problems? In Year 10 Product & Design you will identify a real need, problem or opportunity that you will then articulate in a design brief. This subject will teach you how to draw technical drawing by hand, Google Sketch Up and 3D realisation.

Course Summary

Do you enjoy spending time with children? Seeing them grow and develop? Early Childhood Education and Care is a stimulating and rewarding career. By studying Early Childhood Education and Care you will develop the skills and knowledge to effectively engage children in their early learning. This will include a mixture of learning through theory and practice, as well as, Structured Workplace Learning.  If you want a stimulating and rewarding career start by studying Early Childhood Education and Care. 

This subject commences in Year 10.   

VCE: Unit 1, Unit 2 and Unit 3 & 4 sequence available

ATAR Contribution: ATAR Contribution: Unit 3 & 4 students do not receive a Study Score for this subject. Instead, they receive an ATAR increment of 10% of their fourth Study Score in other subjects

Do you enjoy making things out of metal? Good with your hands? Year 10 Engineering will provide you with an introduction to the practical applications, principles and concepts of the engineering workshops processes. You will undertake metal projects in the workshop using industry-standard tools and machines. This unit leads into VET Engineering or VCE Systems Engineering.

  • Develop sheet metal fabrication and machining skills

Course Summary

Are you looking at studying VET Furnishing, VET Building and Construction or VCE Design and Technology? Are you interested in working with timber or related construction industry? In Year 10 Timber Studies you will be provided with an introduction to the practical applications, principles and concepts of timber processes. You will undertake an investigative design and building project such as a small cabinet or shelving unit.

Learning Activities & Assessment

  • Investigate design and produce an item of furniture such as a small cabinet or shelving unit
  • Prepare and cost a cutting list of materials and maintain a weekly record of progress in a logbook
  • Complete a written or computer based research assignment that examines hardwoods and softwoods with emphasis on local species
