Beauty (Year 10)

Course Summary

Open to all students, with no prior skills or experience required. This course provides students with strong foundation skills and knowledge, preparing them for a successful transition into a VET course in Year 11. 

Students learn in a real salon setting at WSSC while developing practical skills in skincare, makeup application, nail services, beauty treatments, client communication, and retail customer service. Through creative workshops and industry-style projects, students also explore beauty trends, branding, sustainability, social media, and salon business concepts. 

This course is designed to build confidence, creativity, teamwork, and workplace readiness while giving students a genuine insight into careers in beauty therapy, makeup artistry, salon services, and retail cosmetics.

Learning Activities & Assessment

  • Mini facial, Make up and Nail Art and skincare workshops  
  • Beauty product testing and demonstrations  
  • Salon role-play, team pamper sessions and client consultation scenarios  
  • Mood board and beauty trend creation and industry games  
  • Before-and-after makeup photography projects including social media branding and beauty logo design tasks
