Course Summary
In this subject, students will design, plan, produce and evaluate home cooked and café style meals while developing skills and understanding in:
- Safe food handling
- Cookery methods
- Nutrition
- Foods from other cultures
- Food trends and future foods
- Sustainable and Ethical options when preparing foods
- Preparing and serving Café style meals and drinks for customers
- Menu design and preparation
This subject provides an introduction to the following VCE/VET subjects:
- VCE Food Studies
- VET Hospitality
- Commercial Cookery
- Food and Beverage Service
Possible career pathways include:
- Food Scientist, Dietician, Nutritionist, Food Product developer and Hospitality careers i.e. Chef, Waiter, Bartender, Baker
