Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC)
The Victorian Pathways Certificate (VPC) is an inclusive certificate that provides an enriched curriculum and excellent support for students to develop the skills, capabilities and qualities for success in personal life and local participation.
Students enrolled in the Victorian Pathways Certificate will take part in a support program designed to help them transition into suitable work, further training or other pathway options. Students may enrol in the VPC in Year 11 or Year 12, and the VPC can also provide a pathway into the VCE or VCE VM.
This is a select-entry program. Students identified as suitable candidates will take part in an interview and selection process involving relevant coordinators. Families will be contacted to discuss pathway options and determine whether the VPC is the most appropriate course for the young person.
Required Units
To successfully complete the VPC, students must satisfactorily complete at least 12 units, including:
Core Subjects
- 2 units of VPC Literacy
- 2 units of VPC Numeracy
- 2 units of VPC Work Related Skills
- 2 units of VPC Personal Development Skills
The remaining units may be selected from other VPC, VCE, VCE VM or VET options, depending on student interests, abilities, pathway goals and subject availability.
Elective Subjects
Students may also have access to a range of elective options, including:
- Suitable VCE or VCE VET subject
- VPC electives such as Art and Design, Digital Literacy*
- Work Experience and/or Work Placement, including and not exclusively First Aid Certificates, Barista Training, White card, and/or RSA course*
*Subject to availability. Subject offerings may differ year to year.
Individual subject choices will be considered based on each student’s interests, abilities and pathway goals.
